Brick Calculator

Estimate brick count, mortar volume, and pack requirements for masonry walls.

Brick Calculator Formula

  1. Wall AreaWall Length × Wall Height
  2. Wall VolumeWall Area × Wall Thickness
  3. Brick Volume with Mortar(L + mortar) × (H + mortar) × (W + mortar)
  4. Bricks RequiredWall Volume ÷ Brick Volume × (1 + Wastage %)
  5. Mortar VolumeWall Volume − (Net Brick Volume × Brick Count)

Assumptions

  • Preset brick sizes use common nominal dimensions for standard, modular, and engineering types.
  • Mortar thickness is applied uniformly on all sides of each brick.
  • Recommended packs assume 500 bricks per pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much wastage should I allow?

Five to ten percent is typical for cutting and breakage. Complex openings and patterns may require up to fifteen percent.

What if I use custom brick sizes?

Select the custom brick type and enter length, width, and height in the same unit as the wall dimensions.

Is mortar volume exact?

Mortar volume is an estimate based on net brick volume within the wall. Actual mortar use varies with joint profile and workmanship.
